О событии
The American Center in Moscow invites English learners of all ages, backgrounds, and speaking abilities to join us on Zoom for weekly meetings of the English Conversation Club every Thursday at 20:00 MSK.
Each session, 6-8 native English-speaking hosts facilitate breakout rooms, which are divided by level of English proficiency (Beginner A1/A2, Intermediate B1, Upper Intermediate B2, and Proficient C1/C2). You are able to choose which room you join based on your confidence in English conversation, and you can change rooms at any time during the meeting. Each week, discussions are supplemented by a new list of topics & questions.
The English Conversation Club is a wonderful opportunity to practice your English conversation skills under the guidance of native speakers, meet new people, and engage in interesting conversations with people from around the world. We hope to see you there!
Topics for Thursday, October 8th
Topic #1: First Impressions
What do you usually notice first when you meet someone?
Do you think first impressions are usually accurate? Why or why not?
How quickly do you form a first impression of someone?
Have you ever had a first impression of someone that turned out to be completely wrong?
What helps someone make a good first impression?
Do first impressions matter more in some situations than others?
What can make you change your opinion of someone?
Do you think other people usually have an accurate first impression of you?
Is it easier to make a good first impression in person or online?
If you could give one piece of advice for making a good first impression, what would it be?
Topic #2: Home
What makes a place feel like home to you?
What is your favorite room in your home? Why?
Do you prefer a home that is very organized or one that feels lived-in?
What is one thing every comfortable home should have?
Do you enjoy decorating your home?
Would you rather live in a small home in a great location or a large home farther away?
What sounds, smells, or objects remind you of home?

What kinds of things are easiest for you to remember?
Are you good at remembering names and faces?
